Cookie Cutter Fun

Creative Ways of Using Cookie Cutters Jello Fun For the jello recipe and  how to do instruction check out my previous post "Jello Fun". Pancake Fun:  Pour pancake batter into cookie cutters and serve different shapes of pancakes. Make sure to cook them in a non-stick pan on a really low flame. Sandwich fun :   Cut out shapes out of sandwiches to make your fairy bread sandwiches  fun and interesting. You could try making traffic-light sandwiches by cutting out three little circles! Felt Fun : You could use cookie cutters to cut out fun shapes for your arts and crafts projects: Here are some other creative and interesting you might like to test your cookie cutters. Tart Fun : cut out shapes out of pastry sheets and use them to top your tarts. Vegetables/fruit Fun : cut out shapes out of fruits and vegetables and pop them in your kids' lunch boxes! Savoury Buns Dough : Ingredients 1/2 cup Milk 1/2cup water 3 tbsp  unsalted butter 4 cups flour 2 1/2 tsp active dry yeast 3 tbsp sugar 3 eggs beaten 2 tsp salt (1 egg  beaten with 2 tbsps water, for egg wash) sesame seeds(optional) Instructions Prepare a warm water mixture: In a small saucepan, combine the milk, water, and butter. Warm over medium heat until butter is melted. Cool for about 5 minutes, or until the temperature is 120-130 degrees F. In a large bowl combine 2 cups of the flour, the yeast, sugar and salt. Add the warm water mixture , followed by the beaten eggs, ( mixing on low speed if using an electric stand mixer fitted with a dough hook which makes the job pretty easier! ).  Add the remaining flour 2 tablespoons at a time (while mixing on medium-low speed until dough almost clears the bowl) and is only a slightly sticky to the touch (It's okay if some dough sticks to your fingers). You may not need all of the remaining

Caterpillar Bread

Here is a great bun recipe to feed your family this winter!Your kids are going to love this caterpillar like bun rolls.   You could add variety for your regular bun rolls by using this method to roll your buns. The filling can be anything your family likes . Recipe adapted from: www.fauziaskitchenfun.com Ingredients for Dough 3 cups all-purpose flour 1 cup warm milk 2 tsp. instant yeast pinch of baking powder 1 tsp.sugar 1 1/2 tsp.salt 1egg, lightly beaten 2 tbsp.melted butter 3 tbsp.oil 2 tbsp.milk powder (Sesame seeds and tomato Ketchup for decoration purpose) + 1 extra egg Sieve the flour, then add milk powder, baking powder, sugar, yeast and salt.  Then add the oil, butter and  the egg  and mix together.   Now add the milk gradually whilst kneading.  You might not need it all, so add it sparingly until your dough is nice and s

Savoury Party Nibble!

  Roll Ups! Looking for an easy  savory dish to add to your next party?These roll ups are easy and cheap to make. Ingredients 3 cups all-purpose flour 2 tbsp milk powder warm water for kneading, 1slightly beaten egg 2 tbsp sugar 2 tbsp oil 4 tbsp melted butter 2   1/2 tsp instant yeast 1 tsp salt 1 extra egg for glazing.  8 cocktail frankfurts(mini) Tomato sauce finely chopped parsley  Sieve the flour, then add milk powder, sugar, yeast and salt. Then add the oil and butter and the egg, and mix together.   Start kneading together by   gradually adding the warm water a little at a time.   Knead really well until your dough is nice and soft. Knead for a good 8-10 minutes. The more you knead it the softer the buns will be. Touch a bit of oil with your fingertips and apply all over the ball of dough.   Cover(use cling wrap)  and let it rest for an hour until it doubles in size.   Preparing the frakf

Burger Buns

Custard Buns

 Custard Buns I came across these soft, sweet and delicious custard buns which are available at my local shopping centre, from BON BON bakers, they were so lovely and I wanted to give it a go. This recipe calls for a basic sweet dough, and custard is used as a filling. Sweet Dough Bread flour 500g 2 Eggs 50 g Butter 3tbsp   caster Sugar 1tsp Salt  2 1/2 tsp dry yeast 1/2Luke warm Water+ 1/2 cup warm milk   Custard Filling 40g Sugar 2 eggs 20g plain flour 20g corn flour 210g milk 40g butter  1/2 tsp salt For the Filling To make the filling sift plain flour and corn flour..   Mix well with beaten eggs. In a saucepan heat milk, sugar and salt and stir.  Add the egg mixture and stir until thickens remove from heat and stir in butter and chill.  Reserve 60g of custard in a squeeze bottle (I used a squeeze bottle instead of a piping bag) for the spirals. For the Buns Combine all dry ingredients in a bowl. Make a well in the centre. add the milk

Easy After School Snack

  Easy After School Snack I simply love, love baking. To sip a cup of tea, and  to flip over the pages of a good cook book is relaxing for me... While juggling family life and household chores, I  love to cook, quick and simple recipes. but also have been experimenting with recipes which i come across books and magazines ... This simple recipe which i am going to share with you today  is Lorraine Pascale's , " Salt and Pepper Big Fat Bread Sticks".  Her recipes are really simple..nothing fancy ,anyone can do! I got this recipe from Lorraine's DVD- Baking Made Easy...... And I gave it a go, and served  for my kids as after school snack and they  loved these bread sticks.    Though my pics do not have the WOW factor, they tasted simply yum..
