Early Learning Part 5- Test Drive Your Cars

Numeral Race Car Track    Cars and trains are little boys' best friends! I am fascinated with these colourful miniature trains and cars as it promote not only imagination but also open up countless creative avenues for play-based learning. So this week we had a little fun creating our Number Race Tracks. Here's how you get your number track printed.   Print out the numbers onto A4 size sheets or card stocks.   I created my number tracks using "WordArt"(Ariel Black) as a Word Document and got them printed. Use a Silver Sharpie to create your track lines.  (Have your tracks laminated for durability, and also you can cut out the numerals if desired) To start with, I inserted the number sheets into display pockets and used glue-tact to just keep the sheet in place. Hopefully, you can have your kids take their cars for a test drive on their Number Track! Yeah, my son had fun taking all his cars and buses for a test drive, but

Sensory Number  Fun With Playdough Hello everyone.  Today  i am sharing an activity which i have been doing with my toddler  this week.  Play dough is one thing I have been making for my kids for around five long years. What I love about play dough is that there is no age barrier to join in the creativity.  I happened to discover this fabulous activity using play dough . Great sensory way for learning numbers and this activity promotes fine motor skills . yeah , I have made my older kids make numbers ,letters, spell their  names out of play dough. Now it's the little one's turn, we are back to basics.   Getting the dough into a long sausage shape and trying to trace the numeral   is  challenging for my toddler  right now ,therefore i made him little play dough balls and have him press it on the numeral template. Having him place the balls on the line was easy , this was great fun for him. Guess what? You are right , his little pal Thomas the Tank Engine was ready to r

Hands On Maths - Early Learning Part 3

Let's go fishing for numbers. I made this fishing game for my son, and he really loved it.And we went fishing for numbers!  I have tried this before with my girls when they were preschoolers. My girls learned  their sight words with this awesome fishing game which i found in the net .   Begin by making a fishing rod with a magnet at the end of it. Tie a string or wool to the end of a stick or  some pole,we used a paint brush as  the pole . Attach the magnet to the bottom using a hot glue gun . Cut fish shapes out of  laminated coloured paper.  For this first print out some fish shapes on coloured sheets. Attach paper clips or you could staple the fish using a Stapler. ( I think stapled fish would be much safer around kids). Write the  numbers   on fish  and have your child fish for the number of the day. ( you can use a permanent marker, but by using a dry erase  white board marker you can reuse your fish for other learning games.  Say you a

Hands On Maths- Early Learning Part 2

Early Learning..... A step step by step guide to have fun with numbers.. As a parent I know just how important it is to  help your child in their education. But  before they go on to enjoy deeper mathematics I used these simple Hands on Math activities at home with kids. Plastic milk bottle caps are great to create  hands on activities....All you need is to collect some bottle caps and write the  numerals on each  bottle cap using a Sharpie . Or you can make it extra colorful with these craft foam numbers stuck on milk caps. Practice placing  the numbers in correct order Jumble the numbers and practice with your child arranging the numbers  in correct order . Try horizontally and then vertically . Increase the skill level as he masters..  Arrange the numbers in a scending and descending order.  I used this little plate, just to place the missing number .  Practice what comes before   Practice what comes after

Online Learning Fun For Kids

Great Websites For Mastering Math skills   Today I am sharing a number of  awesome websites that help our children learn. I have got kids  aged 2,5,and 7. And I am constantly thinking how to give a great head start in their education and to jump those hurdles... As mums we think or plan how best  we can   prepare our child for school? Or we worry that our child is not confident enough in certain areas in maths. Sometimes we are too busy with our work!  When your child is doing well and you want her to learn something challenging or improve school grades, online learning makes it easy.  You don't have to nag your child to use the computer or ipad, as you have to when it comes to school homework.  They love their computers.  Here are  some of my picks  of websites where your child can learn while having fun!   Mathseeds  A fantastic place to start online learning for beginners.
